ValPAC Endorses Business Growth Advocates for City Council

The Vallejo Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee (ValPAC) announced its endorsements for the 2011 Vallejo City Council & Mayoral Election today. The election takes place on Tuesday,  November 8th 2011.  After interviews with eight (8) of the nine (9) candidates (Candidate Sam Kurshan chose not accept endorsements) vying for the three open council seats and the mayor position, ValPAC decided to endorse Incumbent Councilmember Erin Hannigan, as well as  Johnathan Logan, and Jess Malgapo for the three Council seats;  and the incumbent, Osby Davis, in the Mayoral race.

“ValPAC is most interested in ensuring that our future council members are experienced community members who are committed to responsible business growth and development. Each of the candidates we have endorsed has what we are looking for.” explained Michael Coan, Chairman of ValPAC. “They are well-versed in the dynamics of the major development and budgetary issues ValPAC feels are critical to the future health and prosperity of Vallejo. Additionally, each is committed to developing and attracting high-quality jobs and new businesses to our community.”

Erin Hannigan, the incumbent, is a local businessperson who worked to bring State Farm Insurance Headquarters to Vallejo.  She has been very active in recruiting other new businesses to our city as well. Johnathan Logan works for Marin City as General Manager of the Community Services District and, if elected, will work to create jobs, update the City’s general plan, and move stalled developments in the City of Vallejo forward. Jess Malgapo is a REALTOR® and has 20 years of business management.  He will be working to bring major investors into the city and his top priorities include jobs and public safety.  Osby Davis has served as Mayor of Vallejo for the past four (4) years and previously served Vallejo on the Board of Supervisors.

“All four of our candidate choices are deeply committed to Vallejo. Each has an extensive history of being involved and supporting the community,” said Coan. “We believe that Vallejo will be a better place to live, work and raise a family when these endorsees are elected to our City Council.”

Those elected will serve a 4-year term and will join current Council members Stephanie Gomes, Marti Brown and Hermie Sunga.
